“Old School” Productions

Though recorded in a digital format with high quality audio to digital converters, these song were recorded using an analog board and preamps, and as if it were going to tape. The rhythm tracks (drums, bass, and guitars) were recorded together (4 songs in 3 1/2 hours,) minimal editing was done done, and the vocals are not “tuned”. This approach capture the magic of the interactions between good musicians playing together.

“Modern” Productions

Still recorded in a digital format with high quality audio to digital converters and using an analog board, preamps, and compressors, these songs were recorded, meticulously edited, and mixed in the modern way. The modern approach for recording focuses on using programed drums (“Happiness in a Can”) or tracks played by a drummer but heavily edited to be primarily “on the grid.” These modern production tend to include many layers, vocal tuning, more “ear candy,” and huge track counts.
